I don't truck with Arab countries especially considering how they treat women. So with trepidation, I picked up this book. Of course, I needed it for a challenge otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. The first half was amusing and I found the satire and the ridiculous character and place names to be hilarious. Unfortunately, the second half morphed into what I consider a typical Middle Eastern thriller(?) with sheiks and political craziness, torture, kidnappings, beheadings etc. I felt this part of the book went on way too long and it just got tedious and boring.
