I don't know why the heck I added this to my TBR as the premise is definitely NOT one I enjoy. The first 100 pages or so are horrible (though well written I guess) and then Phedre's bond gets purchased and it gets a little better. At least interesting enough to keep going. Unfortunately I already own all the books in this series so I'm hoping it gets much much better.ETA: I finally gave up on this at chapter 33. I just don't care about any of the characters, the BDSM is distasteful and I can't follow the political plot (too many characters involved with not enough information to figure who's who and what's what.) It is not worth my time to plod through 1000 pages of this story.
An aptly put description of this book by Reisz - "These novels feature a young woman born to serve a sadistic god, who feels pain as pleasure and brings men to their knees with the power of her sexual submissiveness." Hmmm probably why I have zero interest in finishing it.
In all honestly, I must admit that the writing is beautiful and the world building is great. I just don't care for the subject matter.
